He is AA caliber and more, but ...


... because he doesn't have the number of wins he would have if he had wrestled a full season, how far he goes at the NCAAs could be greatly impacted by his seeding. I generally try to play down rankings and seedings, going on the premise that the best wrestlers will rise to the top - and they usually do. But a wrestler's seeding in a major tournament like the NCAAs does matter. Its one thing to lose to the #1 wrestler in the finals (you're then #2) and its a completely different thing to hit that guy in the quarterfinals.

All that said, I think Epperly has as much talent and potential as anyone on the team. He should be an AA and there's no reason to think he doesn't have a real shot at the championship.
